Aberdeen have stepped in and taken Bristol City forward Wes Burns on a year-long loan spell.

There is an option written into his contract that allows City to be able to recall the player back to Ashton Gate should they wish to do so in January.

Burns joins up with former City manager Derek McInnes, now in charge at Aberdeen, and goes straight into the squad set to take on Ventspils on Thursday night in the Euroa League competition.

McInnes told the BBC: ‘Wes is a fantastic young talent who can play right across the front line.’

Burns made 17 appearances for City last season, before going out on loan to Fleetwood Town where he netted five times in 14 games.
