Albert Adomah has been named in the Ghana squad to take on Nigeria at Vicarage Road next month.

The 23-year-old City speedster receives his first call-up to Goran Stevanovic’s 19-man squad, which will be played at Watford’s stadium on 9 August.

Adomah, who was voted as City’s Player of the Year last season after a scintillating 2010/11, has always maintained his desire to gain international recognition and will be undoubtedly thrilled by the news.

“I hope to play internationally with Ghana,” Adomah previously said. “That’s where my family are all from, it’s my homeland and there would be no bigger honour than playing for my country.”

Should Alby impress on debut, City face the prospect of losing their star winger in the New Year, as the Black Stars will be competing in the African Cup of Nations.
