Portsmouth manager Michael Appleton says that his side were very creative when it came to chances at Fratton Park yesterday, but he was disappointed that his side could not take advantage.

Portsmouth drew 0-0 with Bristol City on Saturday and although the home side had a hatful of chances to win the game, they just could not finish.

The point kept City out of the bottom four but did Portsmouth very little good as they remain pinned to the bottom if the table.

Appleton said after the game: ‘People talk about sides creating enough chances to win two games, but we created enough chances to win six.

‘It’s the situation where we are at the minute – getting in fantastic positions and having fantastic chances but we’re just snatching at them a bit.

‘There’s a lack of confidence in front of goal with some of the players – a little bit psychological with one or two of them.”
