The keeper who was a shining light for the Shrimpers last season and in the play-offs has revealed that he is to be offered a new contract by the club.

The 21 year old comes to the end of his current contract at the end of next season and the club are expecting offers to come in for the talented youngster, so they are acting quickly in the hope of securing his services with a fresh contract.

Speaking to the Southend Echo Bentley said: ‘It is my understanding that I will be offered a new contract. My agent and I will be sitting down with the club to talk about it all and I’m happy to do that.

‘I know there has been a little bit of speculation about my future but I’m very happy with what we’ve achieved this year and I enjoy being a Southend player.’
