Steve Brooker expects to be fit for Saturday’s match against Brentford at Ashton Gate. Steve missed last week’s 2-0 defeat at Barnsley following a calf injury suffered in training prior to the game. However the talismatic forward reports that the injury has eased and that he is very optimistic of making Saturday’s confrontation.
Meanwhile Marcus Stewart’s hopes of a return to first team action suffered a further setback when he picked up a hand injury in yesterday afternoon’s 3-1 reserve home defeat to Cardiff City. Marcus is expected to have an x-ray today to ascertain the extent of the damage, as will Adriano Basso on the back injury sustained in Saturday’s pre-match warm up.At this stage, it seems likely that both players will be unavailable for Saturday, meaning that Steve Phillips will continue in goal and either Calvin Andrew or Bas Savage will partner Steve Brooker up front.
Louis Carey has revealed that he had no argument with the decision to give a penalty against him in Saturday’s match. However the City defender did not feel that the incident merited a red card and is still hopeful that this punishment will be rescinded on appeal.
