Bristol City boss Derek McInnes insists that there is no spat going on between himself and Nicky Maynard, the reasons he didn`t play on Saturday were ‘solely to do with football reasons’.

Maynard is now available for transfer after not being able to agree new terms with City, on Saturday he was left on the bench for the vital win over Doncaster Rovers, the boss even introduced strikers Brett Pitman and Jon Stead instead of Maynard.

Chris Wood started the game ahead of Maynard and the manager insists that his decisions were no transfer related.

‘I’m not going to get dragged into a debate on this,’ he told the Bristol Evening Post. ‘I’ve played Chris Wood because he has trained and played well.

‘I don’t think Nicky’s performance was of the same calibre last week and he is the same as anyone else. I made four changes and they were all solely to do with football reasons.’
