Bristol City manager Sean O’Driscoll says that he will take his time and get the right man to install as the new Robins keeper.

City are short on keepers since Tom Heaton left for Burnley and Dean Gerken was released. The only keeper they have on their books now is American teenager Dylan Castanheira.

But O’Driscoll is determined that there will be no mistake in appointing a new number one.

He told City’s official website: ‘Most people will be aware that both of our goalkeepers were out of contract and we will be inundated with names and possible replacements, so we’re just sifting through that.

‘Costly mistakes can be made, so at this minute in time we’re just trying to get character references.

‘Some people we know lots about, others we don’t, so it’s just trying to pin that all together. We’ll speak to goalkeeping coaches up and down the country.’
