Bristol City have signed Brighton defender Adam El-Abd subject to Football League approval.

The 29-year-old will join for an undisclosed fee after passing a medical and agreeing a three and a half year deal.

The Egyptian has played over 300 games for the Seagulls and has been at the club since he was a young boy, coming through the youth ranks, but he has found it hard to command a first team place since new manager Oscar Garcia took over.

City manager Steve Cotterill told Sky Sports: ‘Adam is a tough cookie and brings a wealth of experience to the club. Any good back four needs someone like Adam.

‘He’s capable of playing football from the back and we’re delighted to have him here to complement the good defenders already on our books.’
