Both sides showed poor quality in the final third of the pitch and cancelled each other out in a poor first half. The game exploded into life in the first minute of the second half as first Marvin Elliott and then Nicky Maynard were fouled. The referee had allowed the advantage for the first challenge but awarded a penalty for the second, booking kepper Neil Sullivan for his challenge. Michael McIndoe scored from the spot. A one-two between Nicky Maynard and Cole Skuse saw Maynard score his second goal for the club with a neat finish. Ivan Sproule made it three before Richie Wellens produced a magnificent curling effort for Doncaster’s consolation. The rout was completed by a guided effort from McIndoe from the edge of the box.
