Scotland international midfielder Paul Hartley has today completed his move to Ashton Gate.

The 32 year old arrives on a free transfer and has signed a two year deal keeping him at the club until the summer of 2011.

A medical was past this morning and the player put pen to paper this afternoon leaving manager Gary Johnson delighted.

He said: ‘He’s added experience to our squad, he’s been there and done it,’ he said.

‘I think it’s a good signing for us, he’s got a good work-rate about his game. I think he’ll be good on and off the field for this football club.’

Hartley was also pleased to have completed the deal and he told the club`s official website:’I came down last Sunday, spoke to the manager and I was very impressed, I’m looking forward to the challenge and there are exciting times ahead.

‘The manager is ambitious and wants to see the team progress and get into the top flight.

‘I’m looking forward to it and I can’t wait to get started now. The Championship is a very good league and a very demanding league to play in. I hope the experience I bring to the squad will benefit us.’

Hartley becomes the second Scotland international to join City in the last week after they announced the capture of striker David Clarkson.
