Bristol City ran out as 4-0 winners in last weekend’s pre-season opening friendly against Bitton AFC.

The Community Match was held in aid of the Bristol City Community Trust and South Gloucestershire club and were hosted at the Ton’s WDS Associates Legal Services Stadium. Proceeds from the match will be split between the two.

Matty Taylor got us underway in the game and Jamie Paterson added a second as he found the top corner of the goal before half-time. New signing Hakeeb Adelakun started to show fans what he was capable of as his made it 3-0 after the break and young Northern Ireland striker Rory Holden took his chance to impress as he made it 4-0.

It could’ve been five as Taylor did have the ball in the net but saw it ruled out for offside and he hit the post as he combined with another new arrival this summer, Marley Watkins.

Johnson certainly used the match to our full advantage as newbies got their debuts and he made two complete team changes to get minutes into as many players as possible so it was the perfect way for the whole squad in effect to blow the cobwebs away with match minutes.
