With reports that striker Bobby Reid was undergoing a medical at Cardiff City ahead of a proposed move, the Ashton Gate favourites departure was confirmed by Bristol City earlier today.

The 25-year-old passed his medical in South Wales and has agreed a new four year deal with Neil Warnock’s side as he gets a shot at life in the English top-flight.

Manager Lee Johnson admitted he was sad to see our former Academy graduate move on but he understood it in terms of him taking the opportunity to step up his game and test himself at the next level, so he leaves with the well wishes of everyone at the club.

He departs having made a total of 158 appearances for the club across all competitions and he returned 29 goals in that time. 21 of which came last season as Johnson gave him more of an attacking berth and outlook within the squad.

Reaction from the fans was mixed on what has been called an ‘undisclosed fee’ but it’s being widely reported as being in the ballpark of £10million and whilst there’s some sadness at seeing him go, 2017/18 could be his standout season, so unlike Aden Flint, at least this is a good price when you factor everything in.
