Following yesterday’s confirmation of Aden Flint’s switch to Middlesbrough for a reported £7million, later on in the day it was being suggested that Bristol City would turn their attention back to Portman Road and Ipswich Town for his possible replacement.

Adam Webster was listed as a potential replacement for Flint when January rumours surfaced and the 23-year-old has again found himself linked with us. The story was carried by BristolLive but whether they’ve got wind of something from a proper source or have simply made an educated guess based on previous links remains to be seen.

In any event, the centre-half was available for around £4million back in January, but despite having been hit by injury in the second half of the 2017/18 campaign, the claim is that Ipswich would still want a similar sum. It’s said City’s opening gambit could be only £2million though, so if the rumours are accurate, fans shouldn’t expect this deal to go through with any speed.

Incoming speculation should certainly hot up though with Flint departing and Bobby Reid will naturally depart as well.
