Joe Bryan feels that he will have a lot more confidence now that he has scored his first goal for the club.

The 19 year old local lad netted the winner in the JPT tie against Bristol Rovers at Ashton Gate last night; it was his first professional goal since scoring for Bath while on loan in 2011.

The goal will give the youngster hero status at the club for some time to come now that the red end of the City has the bragging rights over their rivals.

Earlier in the game Jay Emmanuel-Thomas gave City the lead before Mark McChrystal levelled matters in the second half.

‘I wanted to add goals and assists to my game,’ Bryan told BBC Radio Bristol.

‘I need to keep progressing – I don’t want to stagnate and level out.

‘Hopefully this will give me confidence as I think it’s what I’ve been lacking.’
