Burt Takes On Director of Football Roll

City have announced that the man bought in to serve as Chief Scout, Keith Burt, will now step up to become the club’s Director of Football.

His job description says that he will be ‘taking responsibility for the playing budget and maintaining a regular dialogue between the board and management team and players,’ according to the Bristol Post.

He will have a say in the negotiations for players, dealing with agents etc and contract issues with the club’s staff.

The board reckon that the link he will provide will fit in nicely with how manager Sean O’Driscoll likes to work.

Burt said: ‘I will take on more responsibilities with the new role, sitting between the head coach and the board. It’s a role I’ve fulfilled before.

‘Jon Lansdown has clearly been thinking about this for some time, believing it is the best way forward for the club, which has set out its strategy for the future.

‘It will allow Sean to get out on to the training ground more and focus on his time with the players and his coaching staff. Jon and the board can then look after the functional side of the club.’
