Bristol City have been credited with an interest in Saidy Janko, formerly of Manchester United, who impressed during a loan spell at Barnsley last season.

According to HITC Sport, Bristol City aren’t the only Championship club in for him, Reading and Sheffield Wednesday have also been linked with the versatile right back, also capable of playing in midfield.

Janko had helped Celtic into the Champions League group stages last season before his loan switch to Barnsley, where injuries disrupted his season, forcing him to miss three months between January and March, limiting him to 14 appearances at Oakwell.

However, he reportedly caught the eye of Bristol City, who could view him as a replacement for he released Mark Little, and several Championship rivals. A bid could be made for Janko, 21, if Celtic make the Swiss U21 international available.

Interest in another defender has also been claimed of late, Fleetwood’s central defender Cian Bolger is seen as a potential replacement for Aden Flint, who continues to be linked with various Premier League and Championship clubs.

Bolger, 25, impressed in Fleetwood’s League One season, where the Cod Army missed out in the play-offs, but a place in the Championship could still be taken up at Ashton Gate. The Robins would have to see off rival interest though as Burton and Millwall are also keen.
