Bristol City have completed a deal for out-of-contract Leeds midfielder Neil Kilkenny.
The 25-year-old has signed a three-year deal to become Keith Millen’s third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Yannick Bolasie and Ryan Taylor earlier this month.
City have fought off rival bids from a host of Championship clubs – including Hull and Nottingham Forest – for the Australian international’s signature.
A delighted Millen told bcfc.co.uk: “We’re delighted he has agreed to join us as we’ve been following him for a little while.
“We’ve beaten some strong competition to sign him and that’s great for the club.
“He’s a passing midfielder with a great range and he demands the ball.
“There aren’t many creative midfielders available so the search has been difficult. The top players cost a lot of money but we’ve been fortunate in getting him on a free transfer.
“He’s excited from speaking to him and he likes what he has heard about the club. He wants to help us get into the Premier League.”
Kilkenny contributed 1 goal and 5 assists in 37 appearances for the Elland Road outfit last season.
