Bristol City took over at the top of league one on Saturday after beating Doncaster Rovers 3-0 at Ashton Gate.

The early chances went City’s way and Aaron Wilbraham was unlucky not to open the scoring after sending in a header wide of the target. But soon after he was on the score sheet with the opener when he got the final touch after a scramble in the goalmouth.

There should have been another goal recorded when a corner went to Joe Bryan and his volley smashed the underside of the bar and Derrick Williams couldn’t find the net with the rebound.

But City finally double the score when hesitation in the Doncaster defence allowed Mark Little to take full advantage and slotted home for a rare goal.

Any thoughts the visitors had of pulling off a miraculous comeback were taken away when Harry Forrester was shown the red card after kicking the ball away when a free kick had been awarded.

Then in the dying minutes of the game, Kieran Agard got on the score sheet when he saw his deflected shot beat Jed Steer in the Rovers’ goal and City were three up.
