Match Summary – Nicky Maynard showed the sort of form that has had Leicester City manager Sven Goran Eriksson falling over himself in trying to sign the striker.

The Foxes manager has been trying his best to get his hands on Maynard all summer, but so far his offers have ben fended off by City who could do with some cash for new players.

But even though the ex-Crewe striker missed a penalty, he still did more than enough to help with the game for the Robins, so where would they be if he left?

His value may have gone up after this King Power Stadium show last night. He fired the visitors into the lead just five minutes into the game.

Then just before half time when Gelson Fernandes felled Jamal Campbell-Ryce in the area, Maynard smashed a spot kick against the crossbar.

And it looked like Bristol City might have been about to pay for that miss when David Nugent hit his first Leicester goal on 56 minutes. His shot went through the hands of Dean Gerken, who replaced David James.

But Maynard fired the winner in the 66th minute after Sean St Ledger lost possession of the ball and the Robins picked up a much needed three points.
