City settle Taylor fee

Bristol City have agreed a compensation fee with Rotherham for striker Ryan Taylor.

The 23-year-old swapped South Yorkshire for the West Country last month when signing a three-year deal after his contract had expired.

But, because the flame-haired target man was under-24, a compensation fee had to be settled before a tribunal stepped in.

And the Millers’ chief operating officer Paul Douglas revealed: “We have negotiated a good deal which we felt adequately compensated Rotherham United.

“Although we were disappointed that Ryan decided to leave the club, we understood his desire to play at a higher level.

“Bristol City were very fair in their dealings with us and I wish Ryan all the best with his new club.”

The highly-rated Taylor was signed as back-up to Jon Stead after fighting off competition from Millwall for the striker’s signature.
