Bristol City’s Ashton Gate is the venue for Bristol Rover’s cup final tonight when the two sides meet for the first time since Rovers won 1-0 in the Football League Trophy in 2007.

City have not had the greatest start to the season, in the league they are yet to win a game, but doing alright in the cup matches, even knocking out Premier League Crystal Palace of the Capital One cup recently.

Rovers come to Ashton Gate with two league win on the bounce under their belts, but can’t see City rubbing their egos before the start of this game; we should go safely through to the next round.

Vital Quotes:

Sean O’Driscoll:“I`ve never seen a Bristol derby. Of the players, only Louis Carey has played in one, so to the rest of them it`s an unknown quantity.

“Same city derbies aren`t very common. The fact a first round game in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy is being televised; it shows how big it is.

“We`re aware it`s a big game. We want to try and build on things we`ve been doing well in the second half against Gillingham.”

John Ward :“They`re a bigger club than us; maybe some of the blue and whites don`t like to accept that but that`s the case.

“On the night, they`ve got eleven guys and so have we. We have to try and match them up as best we can.

“Bristol City are a good side, who play good football with some good footballers. We have to work really hard to match them.”

Robins Team News:

Greg Cunningham, Marvin Elliott and Wes Burns are all away on international duty and miss the derby, but new signings Nicky Shorey, Stephen McLaughlin and James O’Connor are all expected to feature in the squad.

Joe Bryan (hamstring) remains the only injury doubt.
