Bristol City have now confirmed four of the pre-season friendlies that will take place this summer as manager Lee Johnson gears up for the 2018/19 Championship campaign.

Fixtures against Bitton AFC, Cheltenham Town and Newport County have been previously confirmed by the club, but yesterday fans were treated to news of a Premier League visitor to Ashton Gate in our build up.

We will take on Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth on Friday, July 27th and the game will carry a 7pm kick-off and it will be five years to the day since we last faced them back in the 2013/14 campaign.

The pre-season schedule as it stands now reads:

Sunday, July 8th (2pm) v Bitton AFC (A)
Tuesday, July 10th (7.30pm) v Cheltenham Town (N)
Wednesday, July 11th (kick-off TBC) v Newport County (A)
Friday, July 27th (7pm) v AFC Bournemouth (H)

Ticket information and no doubt further details on a few more friendly warm-up matches will be released in due course.

This Friday, Bristol City will also find out our first round EFL Cup opponents as the draw takes place at 10.45am. We have been handed the No 5 ball in the Southern Section and first round ties are scheduled to take place in the week beginning Monday, August 13th.

Getting back to the friendlies though, with Cheltenham being the ‘Johnson Cup’ and a very tough match set against Bournemouth, the main concern for fans is what our first-team might look like with plenty of rumours swirling around about players but it still left some room for humour.
