Clarkson Fires Timely Reminder

David Clarkson is eyeing a chance in attack for this weekend’s visit of struggling Peterborough after firing a timely reminder of his talents for the reserves at Bournemouth yesterday.

Clarkson, 24, played 75 minutes on the South Coast as he hit an emphatic hat-trick in the 7-0 rout, just at a time when a striker’s slot is expected to have become available.

Costa Rica striker Alvaro Saborio is not due to return from international duty in the United States until Friday and the hitman will undoubtedly be tired after playing twice in the space of four days.

That could open the door for the ex-Motherwell striker although Danny Haynes, who did not travel south yesterday, is favourite to lead the attack with top-scorer Nicky Maynard.
