Steve Cotterill had to admit that Fulham had that bit more quality than his side after ending up on the wrong side of a 4-1 mauling on Saturday.

Fulham simply bossed the game in the first half and City made it easy for Moussa Dembele to tap home from close range for the first of this afternoon’s goals.

It got even worse a few minutes later when the same player got on the end of a cross from Tom Cairney.

On the half hour City said goodbye to the points when Ross McCormack curled the ball home from 30 yards after Fulham had won a free kick.

Three minutes later Fulham were celebrating their fourth goal after Ryan Tunnicliffe lobbed the ball over Frank Fielding and into the net.

Jonathan Kodjia grabbed a goal back for the home side but that was a case of ‘too little, too late’ for the Robins.

Steve Cotterill told BBC Radio Bristol after the game: ‘We made a couple of mistakes to give Fulham a leg-up in the game and we are very disappointed with the goals conceded.

‘We came up against opponents with that bit more quality than us and they took their chances. We have to create more opportunities than our rivals to score goals.

‘We are in for training tomorrow and will dust ourselves down in time to face Wolves on Tuesday.’
