Former Bristol City winger Dave Cotterill is rumoured to be considering his future at Sheffield United.

Cott’s joined the Blades from Wigan 18 months ago, after a series of top performances for us earned him a £2m move to the JJB in 2006.

But following the arrival of Jamie Ward from Chesterfield last year, Cotterill has found himself sitting on the bench at Bramhall Lane.

“I just want to play football and anyone will tell you that if you are not playing week-in, week-out, you are not going to be happy.” Cott’s told Vital Sheffield United.

“I’ve got to try and force my way into the team. If not, then we’ll have to wait and see. It definitely comes down to first team football.

“I want to try and keep a regular spot in the Welsh side, but if I am not playing at Sheffield United then it’s obviously a lot more difficult to get in the Welsh XI.

“I need first-team football,”
Dave ‘George Best’ Cotterill added.

Given the ongoing and obvious lack of width down the Gate at the moment, it would be FANTASTIC if Gary Johnson wheeled and dealed to bring the former wideman back to Bristol in the winter window.

Swansea are also thought to be plotting a January raid but I’m sure he would jump at a chance to come back here should an opportunity arise.

Maybe we could even give the Blades wantaway keeper Adriano Basso in exchange, seeing as they in the market for a keeper?
