Date Reset After Big Freeze

City have announced that the FA Cup 3rd round clash with Cardiff has been re-arranged for a week Tuesday.

Referee Peter Walton inspected and the pitch at 10am this morning but found a small area was frozen in front of the East End.

With the Police insisting on a stupid 12.30pm kick-off, there was no chance of the sun getting on it to defrost it in time.

Our last home game with Watford nearly suffered the same fate but it went ahead due to there being more time on the pitch to thaw out.

Neither club could agree on a mutual date for the revised clash. City wanted to play this coming Tuesday (the 5th) but the Welsh preferred a week later. In such circumstances, the original replay date is the automatic option in the FA Cup – and it so happened to fall on the 12th.

The winners of the re-arranged tie will host fellow Championship team Leicester in the 4th round on the weekend of 23rd January.
