Defenders Aden Flint and Hordur Magnusson missed out in favour of Jens Hegeler and Bailey Wright during the Atletico Union Guimar win.

But Lee Johnson has confirmed they’ll return for Bristol City at Cheltenham.

He told the Official Website: ‘Both Aden and Hordur will start against Cheltenham.’

Explaining the decision to go with Hegeler and Wright as the central defensive pairing during the 6-0 thrashing of the Spanish third tier side in Tenerife, Johnson insisted they were in need of the minutes more.

‘I think the centre-half load is a little bit less than everywhere else on the pitch so it was good to get Bailey as many minutes as possible, while Jens pulled out of the Yeovil game in the warm-up so it was pleasing to get him the 90 minutes.’

However, as all four are ‘in good nick’ Bristol City look well placed for central defenders with it the boss’ plan to not only start Flint, who continues to be linked with an Ashton Gate exit, and Magnusson but finish it with them too.

‘The four centre-halves we have are all in good nick and Hordur and Flinty will start against Cheltenham, and hopefully play the full game.’

When Bristol City head to Whaddon Road this evening it will see the Robins come up against former boss Gary Johnson, of course the father of the Reds’ own Lee.
