Bristol City’s Championship season continued with a four-nil defeat against Derby at the iPro Stadium on Tuesday.

With half time approaching, and Bristol City looking set for a goalless half (which would have been more than welcome) Derby took the lead when Tom Ince ran with the ball before finishing past Frank Fielding.

Ince made it two just past the hour when he beat former Ram ‘keeper Fielding (who could be disappointed) before Ince ‘had the match ball’ when he completed his hat-trick 20-minutes from time with Johnny Russell completing the ‘Ram Raid’ late on when he headed home.

Things could have been different had Nathan Baker’s effort, just a couple of minutes before Ince’s opener, not hit the post as he got onto the end of a Joe Bryan freekick that could have put Bristol City ahead.

But Darren Bent had also hit the woodwork before this for Derby; he saw a head header from a Jeff Hendrick cross hit the crossbar.

Defeat saw Bristol City dropping to 21st but still just outside of the relegation places at this point in time but the goal-difference wasn’t done any favours!

These were the other results.

Looking at these results the stand out ones (so far) have to be wins for Middlesbrough and MK Dons.

Whereas a reference has to be made to both Cardiff and Brighton, who lost two-goal leads! In the case of the Bluebirds though they recovered to beat Brentford three-two but the Seagulls had settle for a two-two draw with QPR that saw them lose top spot.

Middlesbrough’s fine run (of cleansheets too) went on with a one-nil win over promotion rivals Burnley with this win at the Riverside Stadium seeing them claim the lead in the Championship ahead of the top of the table meeting with Brighton this weekend!

Play-off pushing Sheffield Wednesday saw their hopes suffer a setback with a surprise setback at MK Dons with Karl Robinson’s side running out two-one winners to collect an important three-points at the Stadium:MK.

It’ll be another full schedule this coming weekend, the final games ahead of Christmas.
