Bristol City fans were able to meet club record signing Famara Diedhiou on Sunday at the Community Match against Bristol Manor Farm but he’s yet to be seen in action for the Robins.

Having been put through fitness tests this week the forward did travel for Tuesday evenings friendly with Bath at Twerton Park but Diedhiou wasn’t involved.

Lee Johnson is expecting the former Angers man to feature at Huish Park on Saturday though when Bristol City face the boss’ former club Yeovil.

He told the Official Website: ‘We`ve given Famara a series of tests: jump, agility, speed and lung capacity tests. If all goes well this week and we feel he`s in good shape, Saturday against Yeovil Town will likely be his first appearance.’

Meanwhile, Aaron Pierre will not be offered a contract at Ashton Gate.

Pierre, who had featured in two pre-season friendlies but sat out the win at Bath City on Tuesday, has been informed by Johnson there isn’t a deal for him at Bristol City, which I said I felt was going to be the case wasn’t it.

The out-of-contract Wycombe defender did impress Johnson at the Failand training ground but not enough into warranting the offer a contract.

Explaining the move on the Official Website Johnson said: ‘We haven`t taken it any further, but I have to say he did very, very well. He`s an excellent player and an excellent lad, but when we sat down in the cold light of day we looked at the fact we`ve got four centre-halves in Jens (Hegeler), (Hordur) Magnusson, (Aden) Flinty and Bailey Wright.’

If it wasn’t the first team players preventing this Johnson then had to take into account the younger players coming through at Ashton Gate – Pierre wouldn’t have had enough football but the boss will ‘keep an eye on him’ going forward.

Adding: ‘Behind that we`ve got three young players who can all play there in Zak Vyner, Taylor Moore and Lloyd Kelly, who have shown up really well in pre-season. We just didn`t feel there was a path there to the first team early enough for what he (Pierre) would want. But we`ll definitely keep an eye on him, because he`s a great lad who gives you that balance with the left foot and someone is going to get a great signing.’
