Bristol City midfielder Wade Elliott has taken up a coaching roll with the club after announcing his retirement from playing this week.

Bristol City midfielder Wade Elliott has taken up a coaching roll with the club after announcing his retirement from playing this week.

The 36 year old has called time on his playing career which has seen him play for the likes of Bournemouth, Burnley and Birmingham as well as Bristol City.

He was the captain of the side that won the League One title last term and lifted the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Wembley.

Now Elliott will be in charge of the club’s under 21 squad.

He told the club’s official website: ‘It wasn’t a difficult decision.

‘Over the summer my mind was naturally leaning more towards the coaching job and how I would approach that.’
