End Of The Line For McInnes

Bristol City have sacked manager Derek McInnes after the team put in another woeful performance as they went down 4-0 at home to Leicester City.

The defeat puts City back on the bottom of the Championship staring relegation in the face, even at this early stage of the season.

McInnes promised much when he arrived but delivered little thanks to players who looked like they just couldn’t be bothered with it this season.

But a manager must have motivational skills and it soon became apparent that his players just were not good enough to make sure he kept his job.

McInnes has now paid dearly for this with his job, director Jon Lansdown told the club’s official website: ‘This is a decision we felt we had to make for the good of the football club.

‘Derek has been a pleasure to work with; he’s disappointed but he understands the decision.

‘We want to give ourselves the best possible chance of getting out of the situation we are currently in and we’ve got 20 games to do that.’
