Bristol City bowed out of the FA Cup in the third round against Crawley thanks to a goal from an ex-lifeguard which was inspired by a 40 plus year old ex premiership striker.

Matt Tubbs was the man who got the winner for the league two outfit, he beat David James to ensure that his side went through to the next round while City were left again wondering where things are going wrong.

And Tubbs was looking to help steer his side to another good cup run like the one they had last season so he has been getting shooting tips from Ex-Chelsea and Stoke City striker Mark Stein.

Stein works as a physio for the League Two leaders and Tubbs told the Daily Star:

“Mark was a great player and is always bleating on about when he played in the Cup final for Chelsea.

“It is great to have someone with his experience around the place and he has given me quite a few pointers this week. It was great to score against someone like David James.”

Tubbs added: “These are the things you dream about when you are working as a lifeguard and shows how far I have come in a short space of time.”

City – who had Stephen Pearson dismissed late on for two bookings, have now gone five years without going beyond round three.
