FA overturn James’ red card

City ‘keeper David James has had his sending-off against Middlesbrough last weekend rescinded by the FA.

The former England stopper received his marching orders for supposedly denying a goalscoring opportunity, despite Liam Fontaine covering on the line.

But after City appealed the shocking the decision, the FA agreed that there were three covering defenders and upheld the appeal.

James will now be available for selection in Saturday’s six-pointer with fellow strugglers Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
