According to the Bristol Post, Aden Flint will leave Bristol City in ‘the next few days.’

Speculation has surrounded the Ashton Gate future of Flint since the end of last season but, as recently as a couple of days ago, Lee Johnson insisted NO offers had been made for the City defender.

However, the return of Nathan Baker, signed on a permanent basis from Aston Villa this week, introduced to the fans at half time against FC Twente, which saw Flint start on the bench, would have left most anticipating this as a precursor to Flint’s own Robins exit?

The report said: ‘The Bristol Post understands that the towering centre-back is set to switch clubs in the next few days. A source close to both the player and the club has confirmed that negotiations are well under way between the Robins and another unnamed club. The source did not reveal which club A deal should be completed by the middle of next week.’

Johnson again said no formal bid had been placed, let alone accepted, when questioned on Friday but the boss did leave the door open for Flint, 28, to leave as it’ll now be in the hands of the club.

‘Talks are continuing and could even be completed over the weekend should a fee be agreed,’ added the Post.

As much as Flint’s been crucial for Bristol City at both ends of the field the potential exit of the defender, of course offset by the return of Baker, could allow Johnson to further invest in the squad in areas that need working on.
