Millwall assistant manager Joe Gallen admitted that his team were disappointed to leave Ashton Gate without the full quota of points on Tuesday night.

In fairness Millwall could have gone home with a win under their belts had it not been for a bit of a freak goal from midfielder Stephen Hughes.

‘The lads are disappointed. David Forde was unlucky with their goal because he took the right decision to come out,’ said Gallen to Sky Sports News.

‘It was amazing that the ball should drop to their lad with such pace that he was able to generate the power to head it in.’

But Gallen was pleased with the way his side got back into the game through Darius Henderson and then make it hard for the home side to find a way to goal after that. Strangely though, the Millwall number two was pleased that his side only conceded one goal.

He continued: ‘After that we showed a lot of character, scored a great goal ourselves and defended with a lot of tenacity.

‘We are still waiting for our first clean sheet, but only conceding once is encouraging and the overall performance was excellent.’
