Scotland midfielder Paul Hartley has spoken of his happiness at Bristol City following his move from Celtic.
Old-boy Hartley, 32, enjoyed years of monotinous domination at Parkhead and is relishing the open nature of the Championship.
Speaking to the Mail on Sunday after winning his 24th cap for the Jocks as a second-half substitute in yesterday’s crucial 2-0 defeat of Macedonia at Hampden, the bearded midfielder revealed: “We’re in the top six at the moment but there will be many twists and turns this season.”
City entered the international break sitting pretty in fifth place following an impressive ten points from five games, with the ex-Hearts man featuring in all the games and even notching a debut goal at Preston on the opening day.
“The Championship could be won by most of the teams in the league. That makes it different from the Premiership, SPL and La Liga where only a few sides can win the title.
“Fans will pay to watch the quality players in Spain and Premiership all day but Championship supporters know they will get a few surprises.
“Newcastle, West Brom and Middlesbrough will be in with a shout. Then you have Sheffield United, Cardiff, Reading and Crystal Palace who have all been over the course.
“Forest, Derby, Coventry and Sheffield Wednesday all feel they can press on while Ipswich have Roy Keane in charge and a few quid to spend.
“But we’re happy to operate away from the limelight. Preston, Watford and Swansea will be much the same.”
