St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes had talks with the powers that be at Bristol City on Monday but nothing is sorted as to who is going to get the manager`s job just yet.

McInnes had an interview with City after St Johnstone granted their man permission to talk to the Championship side, but Mark Robins was also keen on the job before the St Johnstone man was interviewed.

Dave Jones was approached it was reported, but he is said to have distanced himself from the job.

Word around Bristol has it that it will be McInnes taking the job, with Robins running a close second.

A statement on St Johnstone’s official website read: ‘As is widely known, manager Derek McInnes is in Bristol putting his case forward to be appointed as Bristol City’s next manager but things are far from cut and dried.’

  • If it really is down to these two then I would have to pick Robins. But I can think of others I would like instead of either of them

  • Short straw there Sam,it’s Derek McInnes. Has cut his managerial teeth at St Johnstone and has done well with no money at his disposal. You might not be propping up the bottom much longer. If he does well for you , you might struggle to hang onto him if the Prem come knocking
