James Sees A Better Future For City

David James is tipping Bristol City to have a much better 2012 after the club proved to be a little disappointing at the start of the season.

James joined City some 18 months ago with the hope of getting top flight football with the club as they went for promotion.

But things have not gone according to plan.

City have been down in the bottom half of the table for the last couple of seasons, but James believes that things will get so much better with Derek McInnes in charge.

The Scot has worked hard on improving results and hopes to get moving up the table.

And even an ex-England keeper can get told off if things do not go the bosses way.

He said: ‘I’ve been told off more than once and that is how it should be. The environment the manager has created is very competitive.

‘We see that competition every day on the training field and I would like to think that translates into good performances on match-days.

‘There were players here who thought their time was up earlier in the season, who are now in the team or the squad and doing well. That is down to the manager.

‘The competition he has generated has led to some very good performances. The last result was not what we wanted, but the performance against Nottingham Forest was not a bad one.

‘I think that is because players, who were at best fringe players last season, have regained first-team places. That has helped create a very positive mood about the place.’
