Goalkeeper David James still believes that the Robins could make a late run for the play-off’s this season.

The 40-year-old was in superb form as City registered a 1-0 win over Doncaster at Ashton Gate on Saturday – our sixth win in the last seven Championship games.

And the former England custodian insists that Keith Millen’s side have not given up on gatecrashing the top six, providing we maintain our current form between now and the end of the season.

“There’s a lot of teams between us and that position but you win all the games and it gives you a chance,” James told BBC Radio Bristol.

“The side’s capable, it’s more than capable, and there’s a little bit more, if not a lot more, self belief and the addition of Nicky [Maynard], because of his quality, helps us out.

“In most of the games in the last two months we’ve had so much control and looked like a side capable of winning games.

“The work’s been done on the training field, the sort of things you expect to be done are being done and that has added up to a lot more self belief in the team.”

City have seven games left this season, five of which are against teams below us in the league.

Interestingly, only seven points separate the Robins in 14th and Reading, who occupy the final play-off spot.
