Bobby Reid continued his impressive goalscoring form during pre-season when he bagged a brace for Bristol City in a victory over Atletico Union Guimar.

The Spanish third tier side were seen off by the Robins 6-0.

Eros Pisano put Bristol City ahead early on with record signing Famara Diedhiou adding a second, his first for the Robins, soon after. Bobby Reid’s first a minute later made it three in the opening 14 minutes before he added his brace, his seventh in five games, before the break.

Bailey Wright and Freddie Hinds completed the goalscoring in the second half.

Bristol City: Fielding, Pisano, Wright (Vyner 75), Hegeler, Bryan (Kelly 75), Brownhill (Morrell 82), K.Smith (O’Neil 61), Pack, Paterson (O’Dowda 61), Reid (Hinds 82), Diédhiou (Engvall 61).

Lee Johnson was happy to see a bit of aggression shown by Bristol City’s Spanish opponents with that ‘feisty’ along with ‘pluck and aggressive’ attitude and mentality exactly what the boss wanted.

Johnson also went on to tell the Official Website how pleased he things are coming together at the moment but did concede the standard of opposition so far haven’t been ‘unbelievable’ so far.

‘It was good because we wanted a game where the opposition would be plucky and aggressive, which they were. It was quite feisty at times, but it was good to be able to play this game a long way away from home where opposing teams couldn`t see what we were doing.’

Adding: ‘It`s coming together nicely. The lads are in decent shape and it`s always good to get goals, although the standard of opposition we`ve played hasn`t been unbelievable yet.’

Pre-season is about application along with building up form and fitness, as well as team bonding too.

The boss concluded by saying the week in Tenerife would be especially successful if the Robins returned injury-free, which looks like it’ll be the case.

‘I`ve been pleased with the application all the way through pre-season. We`ve been at it no matter what the game is, and don`t forget the players have had a really physical week as well. It`s been great. We`ll give the lads some free time so they can have a bit of a bonding night and then play golf tomorrow. If we come out of it with no more injuries, it will have been a really successful week.’
