Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean felt that it was his big money striker Jordan Rhodes that was the major difference between the two sides on Saturday.

City managed to ship in five goals after it started off so well with a goal after just a few seconds of the game.

But as the goals flowed, it looked like there would be at least a point for the home side with the score at 3-3 when the game moved into injury time.

Then Rhodes and Scott Dann added two late strikes to leave McInnes men wondering just what they had to do to have got something from the game.

Rhodes hit two goals for the visitors, his first in Blackburn colours and Kean believes that the striker paid off a big part of his £8million invested in him.

Kean said to the Press Association after the game: ‘It wasn’t just the way he took his goals. I don’t think he gave the ball away all afternoon and his link-up play was excellent.

‘The great thing when you buy a quality striker is that when he gets a chance you expect him to score.

‘But there is much more to Jordan’s game than finding the back of the net and he is open to plenty of improvement at such a young age.

‘It’s great to be top of the Championship, even this early in the season, but it goes without saying that we need to improve defensively.’
