Lloyd Kelly, 18, is celebrating his maiden England international call.

Bristol City academy graduate Kelly, who received his first England U20 call up recently when he had been placed on stand by for a place in the World Cup winning squad.

He found out at the weekend he had been in fact been named in the final squad for the upcoming England internationals with Holland and Switzerland.

Kelly told the Official Website: ‘The gaffer called me a couple of days ago to say I had been placed on standby for the squad, but I was officially told this morning that I’d received the full call-up. Honestly, I can’t believe that I’ve been selected to be part of such a huge setup and now I’m just looking forward to meeting up with the squad. It’s a huge thing being called up for England and I know it’s going to be another amazing experience for my development.’

It’s been a dream season for Kelly so far as he made his City debut in a League Cup win over Plymouth earlier in the month and was then handed his first start for the Robins in the victory over Premier League side Watford last week.

Having been part of the academy since the age of 11 this hard work has paid off and this England U20 call up is another ‘huge thing’ Kelly’s been working towards.

He finished: ‘The start to this season couldn’t have gone any better for me. Being involved from the start of the season has been great, before making my full debut against Premier League opposition in the week. It’s what I’ve been working towards all these years and now this call-up for England Under-20s is another huge thing for me.’
