City Chairman Steve Lansdown has poured cold water on rumours linking Marvin Elliott with a move away during the current transfer window.

The Sunday papers had reported that 24-year old Elliott was being lined up by Wigan boss Roberto Martinez.

But Lansdown, who rejected a £1.8m January bid from Wolves, squashed the speculation.

Speaking to the Bristol Evening Post: “If that’s the case, then no one has told me.

Newspapers are always speculating about players and that’s all this is. I’ve certainly not heard anything from Wigan.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Premier League clubs started looking at some of our players towards the end of the transfer window, because that is what happens.

But there are no offers in for any of our players at the moment and we hope that’s the way things will stay.

The ex-Millwall man committed his future to City by signing a new three-year contract in July.
