Sean O’Driscoll took charge of his first game as manager of Bristol City on Saturday and a second half header from Leeds United’s Ross McCormack stopped the new boss from getting his first point on the board.
It was a tough place to start at Elland Road, even though Leeds have not been at their best this season it still would have taken a huge effort to have got something from the trip, especially with moral being low at the moment.
But early on in the game it was an ex-Leeds player Neil Kilkenny who set up the first chance of the game when he sent over a free kick that was met by Liam Fontaine and although Kenny in the Leeds goal spilt the ball he was more that fast enough with his reaction and took away the chance that Fontaine had.
At the other end, Leeds could have been in front had Barkley got a better shot in than the one that went wide of the goal and then just before the end of the first half Tom Heaton was called into action to stop an effort from McCormack.
Kilkenny then kept Sam Byram from scoring an own goal before Leeds took the lead on 67 minutes.
Barkley sent a cross into the area and an unmarked McCormack was allowed to pick the spot he wanted to head the ball into and Heaton had no chance.
