Liverpool Youngster Heads To Bristol City

Bristol City completed the loan capture of Liverpool youngster Ryan Kent ahead of the weekend’s clash with Norwich City.

The 21 year old went straight into Lee Johnson’s match day squad for the game at Ashton Gate, and Kent made his debut from the bench in the 69th minute of the one nil loss.

Having come in for the rest of the campaign, the winger was handed the No 40 shirt and Johnson told the Official Site that he was delighted with the capture.

‘I`m delighted to bring in a player of Ryan Kent`s quality. He did very well at Barnsley last year and he`ll bring genuine speed, athleticism and ball control to our squad. We thank Liverpool for entrusting us with another top player`s development and I`m looking forward to welcoming him into the group.’

Having come through Liverpool’s Academy set up he spent four months with Coventry City on a loan spell before spending the entire 2016/17 campaign out with Barnsley. He season with them saw him named their Young Player of the Year and he’s even had a six game loan spell out in the Bundesliga with Freiburg in the first half of this season.

Speaking after the game, Johnson admitted that Kent hadn’t really found his feet yet but he felt he had shown enough good signs to indicate how useful he’ll be in the coming months.

‘Although Ryan Kent didn’t get in the game enough he showed glimpses of quality so again, we have real strength in depth now and the boys need to step up and they will because we have good characters.’
