Louis out for at least a fortnight

City skipper Louis Carey will be out of action for a minimum of a fortnight, after going off injured at Leeds over the weekend.

Carey, 33, suffered ankle and shin injuries at Elland Road following a crunching challenge from Leeds’ Jonny Howson in the 65th minute.

“Louis has extensive bone bruising and a calf bleed. He’s going to be sidelined at least a fortnight,” City’s chief physio Nick Dawes told bcfc.co.uk.

“There’s no fracture, which is the good news, but there’s lots of swelling, bruising and the bleed.”

City stalwart Carey was an angry man following Howson’s tackle and left Elland Road on crutches.

“I remember going into the tackle sideways and winning the ball, and then him [Howson] coming in late.

“He went full on into my ankle/shin. I thought it was a foul and a booking, if not a sending off.

“My shin and ankle is a bit of a mess. There’s no fracture but it’s very sore.”

He added: “It’s disappointing that our good run has ended. Unfortunately I didn’t get to see anything more of the game so I can’t comment on what went wrong.”

Carey was replaced by Nicky Hunt at Elland Road and the former Bolton right-back conceded three goals in his 25 minutes on the pitch.

With boss Keith Millen admitting that Hunt looked “rusty,” other options such as Cole Skuse, Christian Riberio and Joe Edwards could come into contention for Leicester’s visit to Ashton Gate on Saturday.
