It was a really good couple of days for Derek McInnes, which ended with a fine win over Crystal Palace yesterday.

Firstly he signed Steve Davies from Derby, then finalised the signing of Sam Baldock from West Ham United before watching his side get things right and dish out a tonking to Palace.

Ryan Taylor, Martyn Woolford, Jon Stead and Albert Adomah were all on the score sheet as City ran out comfortable winners against Dougie Freedman’s side.

McInnes told reporters: ‘I thought the performance was terrific from start to finish. We made our intention clear from the outset, imposed ourselves on the game, worked extremely hard against the ball and showed an energy that asked questions of the opposition.

‘We wanted to put Palace under pressure and we did that. We scored some really good goals and, on another night, could have had even more.’
