Bristol City manager Derek McInnes has apologised to fans after the show they put on in the 3-0 defeat at Peterborough last weekend.

The City boss was in no doubt that the performance at London Road was their worst of the season, but he has assured fans that things will change.

‘I’d like to apologise to the fans for that performance. It was not good enough and we know we have to improve and be better than that,’ McInnes told the Bristol Evening Post.

‘You have to feel for the fans, because they have come a long way on a cold and wet day, spent good money and gone home unhappy.

‘When they travel in those numbers over a distance like that, they deserve more than they got.’

City are now six points clear of the relegation zone thanks to the ten point deduction that Portsmouth have been handed, but they have an in form Blackpool side to face on Saturday and another slip up could prove costly.
