Bristol City manager Derek McInnes says that he took something from the game against Bolton on Saturday at the Reebok Stadium even though his side threw away a two goal lead.

Things were going great for the visitors after storming into a 2-0 lead with two goals from Steven Davies, but when Chris Eagles pulled a goal back before the half time break, you could sense that City were in for a tough time in the second half.

Jay Spearing and Martin Petrov then completed the turnaround after the break, leaving McInnes and City wondering what happened to such a commanding lead.

McInnes said to reporters after the game: ‘The two-goal lead that we had was no more than we deserved.

‘We nullified a lot of good players that Bolton possess, I thought we made them very anxious and nervous and we had a real discipline, organisation and focus in that first period.

‘We’ve been punished from a couple of midfield runs that we haven’t done well enough to see off, but over the 90 minutes I thought we more than took part in the game against a good side.’
