McInnes Not Happy With His Back Line

Bristol City boss Derek McInnes was not too slow in coming out to blame his defence after watching his side go down 3-5 at home to Blackburn Rovers.

Up front things seem to be getting better and City are geared up to give anyone a good game on their own patch, but at the back there are times when the performance can only be described as woeful.

To ship in five goals on your own patch when you have three of your own is criminal, and that is something that McInnes knows he has to address.

He told reporters: ‘We had to work for our goals, but each of Blackburn’s should have been prevented.

‘I was very disappointed in that aspect of our play, particularly as there were so many positives going forward.

‘Albert Adomah caused them so many problems. We felt we could score goals against Blackburn, but I never envisaged us conceding five.’

City are in action again on Tuesday night and McInnes will be hoping to install some fight in his back line by then as they look for the win that will help them put the Blackburn fiasco behind them.

He added: ‘It’s important we get back to winning ways quickly at Peterborough on Tuesday. It’s no secret that I am looking to sign a new centre-back, but we defend as a team and there were some bad decisions made today.’
